Shtokman Development AG Ecology Lessons in Pasvik

An opportunity to have a more close look at the nature of the native land and to get a careful attitude towards it has been provided to the students of Lodeynoye High School in Teriberka during the “Ecology Lessons” given by Shtokman Development AG on 28-29 September. The project on organization of a tour to the national natural reserve Pasvik was part of the action plan within the frame of the “Year of Ecology” being held by the Company in 2013.
A group of Lodeynoye High 7-11 form students visited the unique specially protected natural area of the national reserve in the far Northwest of Russia in Pechora District of Murmansk region. Pasvik is distinguished by a large diversity of natural areas and environments. This is a land of magnificent pines, large boulder spreadings, and numerous lakes. River Paz valley running across the entire territory of the reserve provides a unique habitat for 229 bird species. Accompanied by experienced guides who work at the reserve the children set out on a fascinating trip around Varlam Island, a natural and historical site in the open air at the Russian-Norwegian border.
Roman Gavrilov, the Head of SDAG HSE Directorate, says: " Shtokman Development AG ecology lessons are aimed at forming environmental culture, increasing the students’ knowledge and awareness of environmental protection issues. All our projects received active support by the Murmansk Region Government and were included in the Environmental Declaration of Shtokman Development AG signed in June 2013. Environmental education is one of the key priorities in our Company and we plan to carry out new ecology lessons for students on a yearly basis".
